Moving From The Familiar to The Unfamiliar - Alternate View

Application Cycle 4

Let's start with the three note per string form of C Major starting on the root at the 8th fret.

Now apply the Cycle 4 rule to lower the 7th degree 1/2 step. The resultant scale is now C Mixolydian (5th Mode of F major).

Now lower the third (E of C major) the resultant scale is C Dorian (2nd Mode of Bb major).

Now lower the sixth (A of C major) the resultant scale is C Aeolian (6th Mode of Eb major).

I would have liked to continue with accidentals here but a limitation in Powertab caused me to insert the key signature.

Now lower the second (D of C major) the resultant scale is C Phrygian (3rd Mode of Ab major).
