I was wondering if anyone can help me. I was looking at a Mike Campese articles and decided to go to his website where I found a link to this instructional guitar website. They sell tons of videos by musicians. Has anyone ordered the Rusty Cooley videos or any other ones concentrating on speed, accuracy, picking, scales etc? Can anyone let me know how the videos are or if they can recommend any for me? I have been playing for 12 years but need to get more technical and faster. I have lacked in the area of actually sitting down and practicing. Thanks.

I have about 12 of them, including all of Rusty's--well except the new one that just came out "basic training"
Yes having 12 is a little redundant, but its fun watching them every now and then for motivation. Rusty's are my favorite and the first ones I bought. The free samples you can view at chopsfromhell, are pretty fair representation of what is on them. They are EXTREMELY lick oriented and definately not for beginners, (not saying you're a beginner) They do tell you what key the lick is in and maybe sometimes a little explanation but generally speaking there is no detailed explanation of the correct way to pick or hand placement or proper technique or anything like that. (although Rustys new Cdrom "basic training' does say its more beginner oriented in breaking everything down like that, but I don't own that one)

Anyway If I were to recommend any it would be Rustys-but again I'm biased cause I'm a fan of his. 'Art of picking' is nothing but alternate picking licks. 'Extreme Pentatonics' is 1/2 Rusty breaking down the pentatonic scale and showing you how to play it in every way imaginable (VERY dry and tedious information but I found it extremely useful, it helped me visualize the fretboard) and 1/2 licks utilizing 3,4, or 5 N.P.S pentatonic scales. 'Shred Guitar Manifesto' is Rusty's legato workout and then 50 licks (I think its 50) utilizing the various techniques.
