So lately I’ve been feeling a sort of pain in my picking wrist, but only really when I get into fast heavy palm muted stuff. Its fine right now and doesn’t hurt when I do anything else but unfortunately I have an audition coming up in about month for my college and was wondering how long things like this could take to clear up. I’ve stopped playing for the past couple of days but and only played on my acoustic for like 20 minutes today. Needless to say I’m a bit worried but I figure I’ll be fine.
The main reason I’m posting this is because I only hear of problems in the fretting hand and am wondering what could occur in the picking hand. That and to hear other peoples experiences. Also do you think it’d be alright if i played a few minutes a day on my electric and be alright? The boredom is killing me :).

by the way i know if this doesn’t go away in about a week I’m heading to the doctors so don’t worry about that.

Check out the stuff here about tendon injuries http://www.stetina.com/tips.htmlMaybe you should see if you can change your style so it dosnt hurt so much?

After reading that I’ve come to the conclusion that i may have just over exerted myself while playing with cold hands. I even remember the day and exactly when it may have happened. Just need to let it rest I’m sure it’ll be alright but i still want to hear some experiences with some sort of pain. It just seems strange to me because I hurt my picking hand and everyone seems to hurt their other hand with Carpal tunnel or something. Which leads me to believe its not as serious as any of that.

If you go out running and stuff, after a while you'll get an injury or 2 so its bound to happen with guitar as well.
