-Ben Monder
-60's Miles Davis with Tony Williams on drums
-Shakti with Zakkir Hussain on tabla. Actually any and all Indian music for that matter. African drumming is the only thing that can hold a candle to that rhythm.
-Brad Mehldau's solo piano

I'll second that. 'I' has been in my car stereo for weeks now. I got a listen to the new Tool album this week too and theres definitely some interesting rhythms and stuff on there. Battles are a good band for that kind of thing too.

Have you heard "Rooms of Light" on his new CD? That track is killer.... the first section of the tune is made up of four bars of 6/4, which the drummer spells out on the ride cymbal, except that the guitars and bass are playing 7/16 and 6/16 bars over top of that until it lines up again after the fourth 6/4 bar.

there are so many things on the guitar that only ben monder can do.

check out the radio broadcast link at the bottom:

ben monder was actually in town a couple days ago. Too bad I already had tickets to seamus blake on the same night when I found out about the show. It kind of pissed me off...What are the chances that two of the heaviest cats in new york are on the opposite side of the continent on the same freakin night?!? Ah well, seamus blake tore the roof off the place...hopefully ben monder will come back soon.

Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave, Clutch, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith. Motorhead also got some songs with a certain groove.

Never heard of them. I googled up "Pleasure" and "Funk" but for some reason I couldn't find anything about them. Where can I get some Pleasure?

The song I meant was 'Joyous'. I found that page a minute ago, and I'm gonna have to hear the sound samples from the rest of the songs. But Joyous got a great rhythm, as I've heard that one already.

Van Halen!!! Just check out "Runaround" (F.U.C.K.) or "The Seventh Seal" (Balance). Groove at its best!!!
As Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Extreme and many others have already been mentioned before, I'd like to recommend everything by Steve Stevens (esp. with Billy Idol). If you're more into funk, I'd say check out Rufus & Chaka Khan - Stompin' At The Savoy. Great band (guitars by Paul Jackson Jr.).

Best regards!

Extreme are fantastic, such funky grooves! Nuno i think is underrated, and the band. Maybe their heyday's just over now, but van halen are still mentioned. Hmm.

Nevermore, Cryptopsy, Arch Enemy, Carcass.

There was a Cannibal Corpse studio vid posted somewhere on here, search Google Video for Frantic Disembowelment... that one is just scary to watch.

Rock On,
