Hey,
i was just wondering how many bpm is possible with tremolo picking (hammering on one note)....i was thinking of that for a while now because i think its quite interesting to know what is possible and what is not!

why is there no "tremolo pick" thread in strictly forum? i know its kind of stupid, but i think its interesting (and yeh...its kind of penis show off only^^)

so...is like 320(+) bpm 16 notes possible?

or 300?

whatever, i hope i get a serious answer since i mean this kinda serious

best regards

I don't really know, it depends on a few factors though. I find that it is easiest to tremolo pick quickly on the 2nd or 3rd string while fretting at the 7th fret or above. This is due to the string's freedom of movement being restricted by being fretted and the fact that these strings are thick enough to allow the pick to glide over them without hanging up, while being thin enough so the picking motion can be kept small. I wouldn't doubt there are some guitarists that can buzz along at 300 bpm, maybe 350. At 300 bpm, 16th notes are at 20 notes per second, at 360 bpm they are at 24 notes per second. I don't know if 400 bpm is attainable, but it wouldn't shock me if someone can manage it. I sure would have problems trying to determine if they were picking in time to the metronome!

dude this is insane...Ive been wondering about this for soo long now, cause i was worried that i may be genetically too slow to shred.....You just phrased this question right, so im looking forward to replies as well...As for my current tremolo, I can pull off 16ths at 215 bpm...later (on one string!)

lol. Dude, Your genetics have nothing to do with speed. Maybe with arthritis which will slow you down, but not speed. Practice man. If something is to slow, practice.
