How to get THAT tone

If anyone wants to get (insert favorite guitar player here)'s tone, good luck.

You can duplicate the gear and settings etc., but the tone exists in the individual.

A player that has a unique tone, has that tone, no matter what the gear.

The player adapts to the gear to achieve his/her tone.

Players tend to gravitate to gear that makes it easier to get their tone. But, ultimately the tone is in the hands of the player.

This is just my opinion, I may be wrong.

I agree totally, most of the time the tone from a player comes from thier hands. (which is sort of a general statement to me) but yes I guess I agree

True, but it also has a little bit to do with equipment, because some players don't like to discuss their settings, equipment, etc.

...and also might not mention ALL the gear they´re using... when you see a guitarist on stage, and he´s got a Marshall top, that doesn´t mean that within that amp, there are all the original guts of a Marshall, just as an example...
