Dyers Eve Solo Intro

Hey,
i just checked out metallica´s dyers eve...

the solo is pretty fast...so how are the first strokes played?

its like one note per string stuff...with bendings....at like 200bpm...i dont think it is alternate picked, right?

is kirk sweeping it? or is he just doin strange things and using wahwah so hard that no1 hears the mistakes? ;)

I cant think of the solo off hand, but I dont think that there are technically sweeps in it. I learned it YEARS back. I think I was still in highschool actually (im almost 21 now). I have the book, so I will go home and take a quick run through it and see what type of explainations I can come up with.
