Looks like a website with a lot of diversity from the articles I've read. I've been playing around 3 years 8 months. I've had RSI for 5 months (warm up properly and don't spend all day typing if you're gonna spend the rest of the day playing guitar!) but I'm finally coming out of it.

I'm into all kinds of music and write all kinds but it comes out as progressive music right now. Some of it is a bit weird like "Lullaby" I wrote a few nights back. I have no idea how I came up with it, its really bizzare!!! I also do straight forward shred and had a shred teacher for a while before my RSI which I'll go back to when I'm healed but its good comosition, vision and songwriting that does it for me.

Very nice to be here :).

Here is my myspace if you wanna check it.

Air Extended: is an idea for a prog album begining I'm working on.

Lullaby: is a weird song I came up with I play an ocarina on.

Prog song idea: is another prog idea I have with some kinda solo work on there at the end I basically cut and paste different attempt cause my arms let out before I could get it down properly.

Cheerful Red: is a folkish song I wrote a while back that I quite like.

Sounds like your RSI is bad... What kind of symptoms did you initially get (probably lots of pain I would guess)??

Kinda a tightness in both hands. I massaged it and it got worse and felt like a muscle ache which was focused in a few places on both arms. This was then also in my forearms and is now in my upper arms and shoulders.

It happened during my coursework deadlines which I had to meet so I worked through it then stopped. After school I stopped playing completely for a while then found I couldn't bare that so played on occasion just simple stuff and stuff to help my theory. Now I can play roughly as much as before but I don't practice things because that is continuos strain I just play and write. I think it is improving though at last!

You can always take up slide guitar, less finger motion. Unless you already play slide, it would be a good time to take up a new skill.. Much less finger motion required for slide but it has it's own set of issues associated with it..

Yeah I started singing and recently bought a digery doo and ocarina :). I think my arms are good enough for me to write music. I just play more cleverly in a way I pay attention to which notes I play more and looked into my rhythm and harmony a lot more. In terms of lead guitar I experimented with different modal sounds and phrases and choices of notes. Basically I had fun though the depression took a while to get over when it happened.
