I'm getting into jazz and was wondering if anyone could refer some studying material to me. I would prefer book references, but I guess a video would do. I happened to come across one called the "Jazz Guitar Technique" by Andrew Green. It seemed to have all good reviews, and I was wondering if anyone here has a personal experience with this book. So any reccomendations of jazz instructional books for beginners would be great! Thanks.

It probably doesnt help much, but lately i also wanna get into to jazz and what i did was searching for "pop"/Vocal versions of jazz tunes (i.e. Ella Fitzgerald, Sam Cooke etc... - so i know what the song/ melody is supposed to sound like, which is often quite hard to heard with all that improvising going on).
And a few days ago i bought a NEW REAL BOOK. I think thats a good start, for me at least!

Probably the best introduction to playing jazz is The Jazz Handbook by Jamie Aebersold - it's available online as a free download from http://www.jazzbooks.com/jazzhandbook/Default.htm
