Hi All
New to the forums but been playing for years. Although more in the last 18 months than I have in the last 25, (that's what 2-3 gigs a week does).

I have a problem I, can't seem to resolve, maybe someone can help me.

I constantly dig too deep into the strings with my Pick and then end up muting strings with the fleshy part of my thumb on down strikes. I have tried to have more pick showing but then my accurracy hitting the strings suffers. It may be my attack angle?? I tend to anchor my little ginger on the scratch plate below the thin E string.

Any help would really be appreciated.:D

thanks

Little Ginger ! Thats funny that is !

LOL

Is that cockney slang for summat else ?

I will ask Russ....

Anyways, I would slow your picking technique right the way down and watch how much plectrum you have sticking out and adjust to suit. The speed things up over time.

Also, you can buy plectrums that only allow you to strike the string with the tip - that might be worth a try mate.

LOL, I think it's just a typo no?

Ginger...Finger...G right next to the F on the qwerty board.

On the topic though, I went througha phase with tele I played of doing exactly what you describe and giving myself nasty blood blisters whehn the strings scrape into your fingers.

But it kinda went away after a while without anything conscious. BUT I think it might have had something to do with spending a long time practicing sitting down and the playing gigs standing up, change of angle and all that.

You mention you haven't played much for 25 years then now you're standing and gigging regularly, maybe that's it?

It's possible that you're trying to over compensate from the 'sitting around at home noodling' to the full blown gig situation and trying to play 'harder' than you need! Just kind of re-iterating what Russ said really.

One day I'm-a think of something original to say and not just copy Russ!!!
I keep my wild Gingers anchored in a coral at the bottom of my Garden!:D
