Hey whatsup? Anyone know a site that has any hybrid fingerpicking excerises? I would really like to learn this technique. I've seen some guys use this technique, and it really seemed to help them out alot in there playing.

Really any old finger picking exercise will do. One of the things I practice (to my teacher's dismay lol) a classical etude (I think it's caprice in Em by Carcasi but I need to check) and use pick, middle, ring and pinky. The pick works as the thumb would and the other fingers mimmic the pimami thing. If you are looking for more of a banjo roll type thing, 2 fingers and the pick, then just get a beginners banjo book or go to some banjo website, learn the basic rolls (I know three, forwards, backwards and there's a third one I can't remember but there are probably more) and then just run them through chord progressions.

check out the hybrid picking section for some sample pages from his hybrid picking book. the open string exercises are GREAT right-hand chopbuilders.

Try this site (http://www.ezfolk.com/guitar/Tutorials/tutorials.html)
Has picking patterns for guitar and banjo, might find something you can use here. As I took you to the guitar site for banjo you will have to go to the home page and work in from there.

I dont know how much money you have to throw around - I get movies and guitar videos and alot of things free at my library. Eric Johnson does some really nice hybrid things in his instruction dvds. I was impressed - I had only heard cliffs of dover and I didnt know how good he really is. I think he is as much a virtuoso as Michael Angelo but with totally different things - not 32nd note alternate picking. Hes really clever.

Hi dwest2419, I have uploaded a couple of PDF's for you (see the link to the zip below) with a couple of basic blues fingerpicking exercises, instead of using your thumb and first finger, grip the pick as you would normally and use that to play your bass notes, then use your 2nd & 3rd fingers to play the other notes in the chords. It takes a while to get the hang of hybrid picking so be patient ;)

Have you checked on this site? Eric Vandenberg's article on Brett Garsed has some cool apporaches to hybrid picking which sort of approximate sweep picking.
