Does anyone here run Powertab on Windows XP? I currently run my copy on my girlfriends PC (Win 2000) because it kept crashing on my computer (XP).

Has anyone else experienced this?

Well, Iīm not a specialist on computers, but... I run Powertab on Windows 98, and it keeps crashing if I try to let it play back long TABs with lots of bends etc.
It i.e.crashes when I try to let it play back "Screaming Blues O Mania".
I think itīs a problem with the MIDI-software. Last year, I installed a program called "XG Synth", which is a cool little MIDI-Synth. And all of a sudden, I had no problems with the playback anymore.
But earlier this year, I had to reinstall everything ( severe crash ), and I donīt have the XG Synth anymore, so I have that same problem again...

I can sympathise with you Eric, computers are a pain in the arse. I'm also no expert but I can tell you that Windows 98 is nothing but trouble compared with 2000 or XP.

If you've got the money, or the right contacts (wink), I would upgrade as soon as you can.

Computers are becoming as important as your instrument these days - how scary is that!

Yeah... I heard that, when you apply for Berklee, you need to have a laptop these days to get in... itīs required AFAIK

A lot of the work I do ( recording, editing, preparing lessons, writing articles, checking emails ) is done on the computer these days. I am glad as long as the system works. To me, there are only a few things that are more annoying than having to deal with software issues if all you want is to finish that song.
I mean, when we recorded Canyon Of Spirits, there were so many problems we had to deal with... the majority of the time was spent using the mouse, not playing the guitar.

Andy, the drummer of my band, is easily annoyed by computer problems. He once said "This is sooo aggrivating. I mean, all the time we have to spend dealing with computer problems, setting up stuff, updating programs... I mean, this is time we could use for practising, rehearsing etc..."

I'm running Power Tab on XP and (SO FAR) Never hadda prob.
In fact runs far better on XP for me than it ever did on 98.
Sometimes when the screen savor kicks on it'll freeze up the program, so I always turn the Screen Savor off.
But So far (After a Year) I've always been Good ta Go.
