Anyone into the original blues incarnation of Fleetwood Mac? Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwan, etc. ?

Thanks...

Hi,

well, Peter Green sure is a legendary player with great phrasing and a great tone.
I once owned a collection of early FM-blues tunes, and I liked it a lot... had stuff like "Iīd Rather Go Blind" on there etc.
Great playing.

Too bad Green had to go through all the stuff he went through... the mental problems etc.

BTW, I recommend to check out the "Blues For Greenie"-album by Gary Moore... a tribute to Peter Green ( Gary owns Greenīs 1959 Les Paul and uses it in the studio ) with lots of great playing...

Warm regards
Eric

Thanks! I'll have to check out the album you mention. I've got several of the FM albums (Vinyl and CD) from those early days. I'd like to see FM go back to it's roots, but the odds of that happening now seem mighty slim. I'm constantly surprised by the number of people who seem to think FM didn't exist before Buckingham/Nicks. :P

Cheers,

A little late with the relpy but Peter Green has been fronting the Peter Green Splinter Group for several years. They have several CD's out including an acoustic cd of Peter playing robert johnson songs. Some of this stuff is great. It's really great to hear Peter Green play again. He now is playing a strat since he gave his guitar to Gary Moore. If anyone liked the old Fleetwood Mac stuff I would highly recommend checking out some of this work. you can get some of this at amazon or at the Peter Green Splinter Group web site.

Old blues fan.

Peter Green is really good , he taught Santana, " Black Majic Woman" is a Peter Green Tune , so is "Green Manalishi" as Priest covered.
The London Sessions with Jack Bruce on Bass is Killer , it's live , for the BBC . BBC recordings have a nice sound quallity to them .
