What is the best kind of neck for shreding? And which guitar?

I'm thinking of buying a 6 string guitar. I want 24 frets and a tremolo bridge on the guitar I buy

I'm not sure which guitar is best for me. I am completey into shred so I need a guitar thats best suited for shredding.

Thanks.

If you want a comfortable axe, I recommend 24,75-scaled superstrats, like Jackson and Charvel Fusion models, Caparison Horus(planning to buy it in summer..) and such. They're quite small, full with comfort cuts and the neck is small and round, perfect for me 'cos I hate those freakin' flat sticks what they call necks on Ibanez guitars. They usually have good pickups already(Jackson pu:s are really underrated) and wood is great and resonates really fine. I myself have an 1990 Jackson Fusion Professional model and it's the best guitar I've ever played. And Schaller floyds beat originals and all else three-nil(maybe except Wilkinsons, but they're a different story).

But again, your guitar has nothing to do about making you a new shred god. Go practice instead of worrying about your gear! You can find my thoughts on practicing technique in other topics.

I play the spoons :D and recommend them highly for shredders!

Seriously though. Just go to a music store and pick a guitar that feels comfortable when you hold it. Any guitar can be good for shredding if your comfortable playing it. My main axe is a hollow body electric (your typical jazz guitar really) which is probably the last thing you would expect a shredder to play. Yet I have had metal heads pick it up and blast out some really crazy lines.

Its not my kettle of fish, but I was very surprised to see someone do it on this guitar.

So yea, just go try out a dozen guitars when you have a chance. The right one for you will pop up sooner or later.

Then worry about shredding :)
