Hi,

I have been playing guitar for about 20 years and have never had any problems with injuries. I am now in my early 30's and am no stranger to practicing many hours and have played many gigs.

About a week ago I started getting a pain in my wrist where the thumb connects. I am now experiencing very mild tingling in my fingers. Some of the symptoms are classic carpal tunnel, but others are not. When I do the carpal tunnel test of bending the wrists for 1 minute, I don't get the tingling. For more info on the tests:

Should I be worried for carpal tunnel or is it perhaps a inflammation thing. It started one night after playing my accoustic (I am more of a electric player).

Went to the doc today and he has booked me for a sonar scan on Thursday.

Funny thing is, it hasn't really affected my playing or speed and the pain is very mild. It's just affecting me mentaly every time I get the tingles. Anybody else had similar experiences

I had one of those... caused by using a vintage IBM mouse apparently.

for all those who took an interest in this thread, I am pleased to announce that the doc says it is not carpal tunnel, but rather a wrist ganglion, which may be putting pressure on the nerve. He reckons I should just leave it and if it does cause pain, then they will just whip it out.
