I read an article a long time ago by Tony MacAlpine, and he said that one of the things he did for his picking was to learning some traditional jigs. Here's a favorite of mine, and it is a little challenging, especially when trying to play at a faster tempo. Search YouTube and you'll find a video of Mike Oldfield blazing this melody.
The playing is a little sloppy on this one, but you get the idea!

Hey, that's the theme tune to Blue Peter haha, a childrens show in the UK. Been running for decades. Anyway, interesting piece to try!

Thats funny. I just know it from growing up as a child in Newfoundland... Some people associate it with the Popeye theme, but I don't think its the same.

Hehe, this one puts a smile on my face. I love the Oldfield version, but I'm a big fan of him in general, so I'm a little biased there ;)
