I whish I could have joined Dead Can Dance as a guitar player. Lisa Gerard is still a possibility.

Joinning At The Gates as a guitarist during their Slaughter of the Soul days, would have been my ultimate metal gig.

In all of both of the threads (thanks, Dan), nobody mentioned Neal Morse... pity!

Here's my lineup. I get to cheat a bit because a couple of them are more allrounders :D

Guitar: Has to be Petrucci

Drums: Sorry, Portnoy. Virgil Donati for the freakshow drum solos he does :D

Keyboards: Neal Morse (I like Rudess, but sometimes I think his fingers have ADD)

Bass: John Myung

Vocals: Daniel Gildenlow... this guy is a legend

Here's my band:
Lead guitar: Page (perhaps not the most technically proficient, but cool blend of rock/blues/otherworldlyness)
Rhythm guitar: Malcolm Young (King of Groove)
Singer: Jonny Lang (Can you say "Passion"?)
Bass: Geddy Lee (Most bands I don't notice the bassist, but he stands out)
Drummer: Phil Collins (He didn't do all the drum work in Genesis, but he or whoever was doing it knocked the heck outta those skins on some of those early post-Gabriel albums)
Keyboards: We don't need no stinkin' keyboards. :D

Bonus category: ;)
Songwriter: The guy from Collective Soul. I forgot his name.

this is like choosing a basketball team for the Olympics so many good choices, that would contribute so much to a musical project.

If it was a live Rock music performance these are the musicians I'd want for a STARTING LINEUP on my team.

there could be MANY MANY more.

Guitar -(all these guitarists can play numerous musical styles)
Steve Morse,
Eric Johnson,
Eddie Van Halen
Rik Emmet

Also Malcolm Young for primarily good solid rhythm guitar

Bass-
John Paticchuci(Chick Corea, & solo projects)
Stu Hamm(Satch, Solo Projects),
John Paul Jones(Led Zeppelin, Session musician),
Geddy Lee(Rush)

Drums-
Rod Morgenstein(Dixie Dregs, Winger),
Mike Portney(Dream Theatre, Solo projects),
Phil Collins(Genesis, solo projects),
Terry Bozio(Frank Zappa)

Vocals-
Sebastion Bach(Skid Row, Broadway musicals),
Sammy Hagar(Van Halen, solo projects, other bands, etc.),
Steven Tyler(Aerosmith),
Paul Stanley(KISS),
Jack Russell(Great White),
Robert Plant(Led Zeppelin).
James Hetfield(Metallica)

keyboards-
John Lords(Deep Purple),
Ruddess(Dream Theatre, solo projects)

I just Noticed my choices are musicians who are still performing with the exeception of a slight few! (is that cool or what to be able to see these monster musicians still performing!!!)
