Hi all! I'm new here and wanted to thank everyone for the tremendous articles, insight, and exchange of information. This really is a great site!

I recently picked up Greg Howe's first CD after reading Eric's profile. Boy, he is a fantastic player! Thanks Eric!

A couple questions.

I was wondering about the second (more recent that the REH) video on Greg Szulc had mentioned in the forum. Does anyone know anything further about this, if available, and how a guy could pick it up if available? I haven't been able to find anything on it.

Also, in Eric's article, he mentions a issue of Guitar Player with "a very long interview, transcription of one whole song, and a lesson." After a search on the web and all, I just haven't been able to figure out the month of that issue. I'm assuming it's during '88, but that's as far as I've been able to get. If someone has that issue around, could you check the month and year as I'd like to try and find that back issue.

Thanks alot!:)

Dave

Hey there,

thanks for the feedback on the article, glad ya liked it.
Regarding the second vid, I havenīt seen it, so I hope James will elaborate on it ( which topics are covered etc. )

Regarding that interview in Guitar Player magazine:
The issue is December 88, it has got Keith Richards on the cover.
Thereīs a really long interview with Greg in there, plus an ad by Fender for Fender amps, featuring him, PLUS a lesson on his tapping runs, PLUS a pretty good TAB of "Kick It All Over".
I lost the original issue, but I found a copy in a small CD store in upstate NY... they have a huge collection of old guitar mags.
So a store like this would be your best bet to find this mag, otherwise Iīd recommend to look for it on Ebay occasionally, you might just luck out...
Warm regards
Eric

Thanks Eric for your reply...

I hate to say it but I've run into a bit of a problem. I called the back issue department at Guitar Player and they have 12/88 as the "Guitars In The USSR" issue, no Keith Richards or Greg Howe at all. While browsing eBay, I noticed a Keith issue as 12/92. I'm thinking that maybe your issue could be some special year end thing or something???... If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you check again on the mag, year, month, etc.. I feel silly asking this because I'm sure you had it in front of you while writing your initial response. Sorry to bug ya again on this...

Thanks,
Dave

OK,

It says on the cover "Guitar World Dec. 1988", inside it says "Vol.9, No.11" ( could this mean that Dec/1988 actually is issue 11/88 ? I guess so. Have them check on 11/88 ).

No indication that this is some special issue. There is a small number next to the "Guitar World" header, 02135.

Features:

Keith Richards
Stanley Clarke
David Lindley
Greg Howe
Darryl Stuermer
Alternate Tunings

Hope this helps
Eric

Thanks Eric...

The confusion has been the difference between Guitar Player and Guitar World magazines, two different animals.

I've got it now!:)

Thanks again...

Oops, was my fault, sorry, forgive me, Iīm an idiot sometimes. Maybe I should pay more attention every once in a while :)
The problem was, I have this huge pile of old guitar mags, GFTPM, GW and GP, and IMO, the GW-issues from the 80s looked very similar to the GP-ones... the design was quite similar.
