I was just wondering how much in terms of music should I know of before going into music falculty in university or college???

I just started guitar, however, I am already deeply addicted to it. I really want to become proficient at it. I am currently working on Speed Mechanics because John Petrucci is the man that made me pick up guitar (I have his rock displine at hands as well). In your opinion, what other good instructional books will musically help me immensely??? Btw, my musical tastes are shred-metal, guitar instrumental, or jazz.

THX~

BTW, this site is just incredible. I am truly thankful that someone is putting up a such great guitar-related website and establishing a friendly guitar community.

Welcome, I'm glad you like it here, many people have been to music schools, and will be able to answer your questions, but for now do a search until someone comes along. I think I may have asked a questions somewhere along these lines before.

a search on this site is a great place to start, because I've seen this topic up a few times, then if that doesn't please you, on the net, I'm sure plenty of schools will tell you what you need to know.

Yea, you really ned to check with the school, cause there all diffrent.
Usually there's an adution of some type.
Your'll usually be asked to play a thing or two.
This is generally to determine
1)If you'll get in
2)Your placement level

Some may require some classical guitar, some may not.
But it really depends on the schools program.
