how the **** does anyone manage to hold down a perfect F major, or B major, they'r ridiculous. i mean if i sit there for 10 seconds, trying to arch each finger the right way i can almost get it, but theres always a string that goes TWANG, i cant imagine anyone doing it repeatadly through out a song

It will come pretty easily soon enough. They key is to practice it correctly.

I'm not sure which fingerings you are using for F&B but I think I can guess that they are:

-1------(2)----------------
-1-------4-----------------
-2-------4-----------------
-3-------4-----------------
-3-------2-----------------
-1------(2)----------------

I suggest you take the same shapes as you are using for F&B but move them up the neck:

-7------(8)----------------
-7------10-----------------
-8------10-----------------
-9------10-----------------
-9-------8-----------------
-7------(8)----------------

Now these two chords are not F&B anymore. They are B & F but exactly which chord you are playing doesn't matter at this point. What matters is that you are playing the same two shapes of a major chord.

Playing these shapes higher up the neck will allow you to learn these shapes more easily (the frets are closer together up there & the strings require less effort to press down).

I suggest you start as high up the neck as you feel most comfortable and practice alternating these two chords. As soon as you feel comfortable (which may take a few weeks) at a given position move everything down a fret and repeat untill you are all the way down!

On F --- don't fret the first string and you get Fmaj7. I'd rather hear a good Fmaj7 than a sloppy dull F. Two years from now you will be in jazz chords and you will be using the Fmaj7 all the time.

That B. I use the B7 or a three string B - sound only the 2, 3 & 4 strings at the 4th fret. That will give you an easy B.

There is always another way to make any chord.

It took me a good six or seven months before I got an F that sounded something less than absolute garbage. Just keep at it a few minutes a day and then all of a sudden one day it will be there.
