I'd like to know which scale mode has the most "egyptian" (i guess you could call it that) sound to it i.e. a scale like this: (pardon my music theory if i do anything wrong)

D-D#-F#-G-A-A#-C#-D
also the D minor (im just using D as an example)
D-E-F-G-A-Bb-Db-D

Also if anyone knows of any songs that are in an egyptian-sounding mode like
Revealation Mother Earth -Ozzy
Home-Dream Theater
Kashmir-Led Zeppelin
Lost in a Contraption-CKY

i'd be glad to hear other songs like those

Hi DDTonFire, I'm pretty sure that the scales used in Revelation (Mother Earth) by Ozzy (with Randy Rhoads) is standard Harmonic Minor (check out Eric's neo-classical shred article for more info on this scale).

The Phrygian mode (a mode of the major scale) is quite Egyptian sounding if you play around with it, and check out the Phrygian Dominant Mode (a mode of the the Harmonic Minor Scale) as well.

For Egyptian sounding songs, check out
