Can anyone figure out this legato?

hi all,

saw this on the web recently.

I haven't play it on the guitar but merely looking at this,
any idea what is the scale it is in?

I study it for a while and figure out its notes are

C# Eb E (thick E)
F# G G#
B C C#
E F# G
G# Bb B
C# Eb E (thin E)

I take the assumption that the notes that appear least are
passing notes. So some possibilities are:

C# Eb E F# G# B
1 2 b3 4 5 b7 7 (C# Dorian)
passing notes - C ,Bb,G

E F# G# Bb B C# Eb
1 2 3 #4 5 6 7 (E Lydian)
passing notes - C, G

F# G# Bb B C# Eb E
1 2 3 4 5 6 b7 (F# Mixolydian)
passing notes - C, G

Any one can tell me if I am making any sense?

This is really C# Minor Pentatonic/Blues Scale with added 2 and M7 in the lower octave and M6 in the upper octave.

In other words, it's nothing in particular at all, just something that someone thought sounded nice--no further categorization needed?

What I'm suggesting is that if you have something that ends up being defined as "a this or that scale with an added this and an added that and a flatted this and sharped that", then what I think you're saying is, you don't have squat. It's a bunch of stuff that was played together that sounded nice at the time. Eh?

It's also super-easy to play at warp speeds. This is an extraordinarily common run and you'll be sure to hear it at every Guitar Center about a billion times.

Same catagory as those L.A. Dorian Blues licks (bulit for speed).

Yah and when played at shredding speed, not sure if anyone can still figure out what scale is it? or doesn't matter anymore.

And thanks James for pointing out to me that it is basically a C# Minor Pentatonic.
