I thought I would let you guys know about a guitarist from India that plays some pretty interesting things. His name is R. Prasanna. I really love Indian music, so when I came across THIS guy I 'freaked'. Here is the first stuff of his that I heard:

This is his personal web site. I know that he has done a few CD's of his original music and they are available here. I haven't listened to it yet, though. I am stuck on his traditional stuff for now.

If any of you decide to check him out, make sure that you at least give his traditional playing a listen. He is the only 'electric guitarist that I know of who is playing legit Carnatic music. Very interesting stuff. His phrasing on this stuff
If you aren't familiar with Indian music here is something to keep in mind: the primary melodic musicians will sometimes play an intro that will introduce the thematic material to be used within the piece. This is done in free time and can last for quite some time. Bear with it, when the percussion joins things start to groove and you will be treated to group interaction and thematic development of the highest level. If any of you aren't very familiar many of the artists in this genre, let me know and I can recommend more or you can explore the site at
