Sweep-aholics!! Post your favorite sweep licks

In response to your enthusiasm about Eric's article 'An Introduction To Sweep-Picking V 2.0 (http://www.ibreathemusic.com/play/article/22)' we thought that it'd be a cool idea to see how you use sweeping and to share some of your own cool licks with us.

The best 10 submissions will be featured in a special article here on iBreatheMusic :-)

The Rules:

1) You can only submit one example.
2) The example should not be longer then 4 bars of music.
3) The example has to be your original.
4) Your example has to be recorded and uploaded in a decent quality (mp3s preferred - No midi files!!!).
5) Your example must be accompanied by notation and Tab (We recommend PowerTab (http://powertab.guitarnetwork.org) if you are looking for a decent program)
6) Please upload one file per post (ie reply to this with your soundfile, then again with your notation). Please do not submit your examples via email.
7) We retain the right to remove any posts that do not comply with these rules.
8) The decision as to who's licks get featured in the article reside solely at the discretion of iBreatheMusic Admins and Moderators.

I am looking forward to hearing what all you guys come up with... I think it´s gonna be quite interesting.
It´s a good thing that these days the harddisk-recording is pretty sophisticated, which allows most people to do some serious home-recording... often sounds very good.
BTW, if anyone of you needs a wave-to-mp3-converter , lemme know, I have a rather small, but cool freeware-prog...

Hi all,

Here's my sweep submission.

I like to use sweeps to create a certain effect and to add more 'punch' to a solo.

The chord is a Dm7(9). On top of it I superimpose the arpeggios Dm7, Em7 and Fmaj7, which results in a D Dorian sound.

I hope ya like it.

1st time at half speed so ya can hear what's going on

very nice... the superimposition is really cool, a great example of how to really use modes.
I like that one... let´s see what some of the other members of the forums will come up with...

Thanks Eric, yeah I think it's a useful and practical example.

Regarding recording:

One of iBreatheMusic's main focus is to show all musical examples with real sound files. I had to go through quite some testing until I came up with a decent result. 'Decent' meaning that the sound has to be clear and usable for our purpose, ie the demonstration of instructional material.

I did try combinations of Amp - Mic - Comp but that didn't work too well as it was very noisy…..

To make it short here's my weird current setup:

My Tele or Strat goes straight into an old Roland GP-8 Effects processor (although old they are quite cool thingies). Mainly I use it as a mixer for controlling the output volume. Sometimes I add some delay, chorus or distortion. From the GP-8 I go straight into my PC. Here I perform the final volume control before sending the signal to the Mac where I record the stuff with Cubase. I have to use the PC in front of the Mac as otherwise the input level on the Mac would be terrible low (don't ask me why). For mastering the sound files I use programs such as Peak (Mac) or Wavelab (Pc).

Well, this is working for me at the moment. I am in the process of converting my cellar into a work and studio area, so I am looking forward to performing more tests......

I think your right. This is a pretty sweet thread. Here's one of my licks, Its in E minor. Its partially made up out of the e natural minor scale.
