What is the best way to play Artificial Harmonics (ie. where you fret a note and then touch a point say 12 frets above it, and then pick). I am open to everybody's preferences, as I am trying to find a comfortable and practical way to do these.

Hey , I actually refer to that technique as harp harmonics, to me A.H`s are pinch harmonics. Anyway the way i do it is I hold the pick with my thumb and middle fingers, and use my right hand index to "fret" the harmonic. With this technique you can play chords alternating fretted notes with harmonics which sounds great.
Check out these Eric Johnson articles regarding the koto effect and harp harmonics:

Yeah, I knew Eric Johnson always called them harp harmonics, and I’d also heard pinched harmonics called A.H. Thanks for the info.
