Hail to the Priest!
I have always tought that K.K Downing and Glenn Tipton have been forgotten when talking about great riff guitarists in metal. People always mention Hetfield, Iommi or Dimebag, but rearly Judas Priest.
K.K and Glenn have written some of the coolest riffs around.Breaking the law, painkiller, electric eye to name a few.
Someone agree with me?

Jimmy Page, VH, Tony Iommi...
There are a lot of great riffers out there.
Dave Mustaine is definitely the one that comes first to my mind..

hey guys,
donīt forget nuno bettencourt...
even though he became famous because of his solistic abilities, he defenitely created some great riffs.
the main riff of "he man woman hater" is one of my every all time favourites.

Yes there are and don't forget those great riffers from Led Zepplen, Van Halen and Black Sabboth ;)
Mick Mars from Montley Crue could always come up with a catchy riff. As could many of the 80's metal guitarists. George Lynch was awesome. Remember Cinderella? Those guys had some great riffs. So many others too.
I think rap bands like the Beastie Boys made it big by incorporating cool riffs from 70's and 80's bands. License to Ill was full of Led Zepplen riffs.
