Could someone please help me with this technique?
What's the proper way to "rake?"
What should it sound like?
When do I use it?

Thank you

Hi Otto...
Rake is a very simple technique, you don1t nedd to worry about...
It's like a sweep very fast taht um play muting the strings...
I'll givge you a exemple...
e|------------------------15(bend)----------
b|---------------------x--------------------
g|------------------x-----------------------
d|---------------x--------------------------
a|------------------------------------------
E|------------------------------------------
See... you just play muting the strings before the bend...
You can use it anytime you want... Steve Vai use it a lot!
Hope you enjoy and understand....!!! :)

Charuto,
is the bend in the end a part of "rake"?

Maybe anyone has an audio example?

Zatz.

Hey Zatz, nope a rake doesnt HAVE TO end with a bend... but who would want to do otherwise? LOLOL!

I dont have my gear at home right now so i cant record a sound example...but i did get this little excerpt of Thorsten raking from Erics bending steel article.....i hope this is ok with you guys!
