Hi guys!
Sorry to ask yet another Berklee question.
(And even more apologies if this has already been answered in the other Berklee threads)
I am interested in applying to The World Scholarship Tour, that Berklee runs, in perhaps 2 years time. I have a few questions on it.
I'm from England.
1) Do they accept "mature students" I.e. students over 21?
2) How hard is it, realistically, to get a scholarship? Moreover, how hard is it to get a full scholarship, if thats what they do not offer to all?
I'm quite poor you see...but I feel I have what it takes, and can certainly push myself harder in the 2 year window.
Any advice would be appreciated on this matter...
Thanks!
Hey Nick,
Phew, very hard questions ...... mmmm I think Steve Carter probably does have the best knowledge on how this is handled at Berklee.
But lemme try to answer this from my perspective.
re 1) yep they do. When I started I was 23. Also, I met some guys who were 30 and over. To me being a bit older is an advantage. One just has clearer goals .....
re 2) As far as I remember Berklee scholarships start at about $1000 (I might be wrong though) per semester and go up to full scholarship. For the low end scholarship it can be enough to send in a tape. They are eager to get international students on board.
I met 2 guys who got a full scholarship after attending "The World Scholarship Tour". I mean they were exceptional players, no question about this.....
So, I'd say in 1 year ya send in a tape together with your application. See what you get out of this. Then go on and take part in the Scholarship Tour .....

Guni, you rule.
This places rules.
Love the sig by the way...Shows that Solfege can be fun for the whole family!
:D
The bit about "eager to get international students on board" sounds promising :)
I'll do as you say, send a tape in first, after some intense practicing!
Thanks again!!
:D
BTW: are you anyway near London? It's a bit too early to announce this but next week we will have an iBreathe Meeting in the heart of London. We could meet up for a drink (or two:D ).
I'll make a post about this later on this week.
laterz,

But it might happen :)
Yeah this is really quite odd - not only for you :D
... but woud be kinda cool ....
anyway, I'll let ya know when I do have some more details and then we'll see ......
