I still cant make up my mind on the damn things.
On one hand, they are really usefull for recording with.....the effects tend to sound pretty good.
Any time i've heard them live, like most multi FX and processors they sound a bit crappy.
Willing to stand corrected if anyone know different!!!!

Hi there,
Now, my opinion on the POD is that itīs a great tool for home-recording. You can set it up quickly and it has lots of different sounds. You also might use it for some other studio sessions ( many of the popular studio cats like Landau, Brent Mason and Huff do have a POD in their rack these days ).
But for sessions in a regular studio and live I would not use it... I like the sound and "feel" of a real amp or one of my preamps a bit more.
The effects arenīt that bad, but what I donīt like is i.e. the delay... I mean, itīs cool that you can tap in the tempo, but if you are recording delay parts, you wanna be able to adjust a few more parameters... exact delay time, stuff like that. You canīt really do that on the POD.
So it depends on the situation you use it in.
Greg Howe i.e. recommends the Johnson J-Station, and I recently read a comparison between the POD, the J-Station and the V-Amp ( Behringer )... the Johnson got the best rating for itīs sounds.
