Eric (or anyone else who may know)

Okay I've been working trying to transcribe your song. Please just tell me this one little bitty thing if you don't mind. At 5:11 to 5:18 (almost at the end) of the song is the part I was working on. I think I got the notes right (the rhthym may be wrong but thats okay) I attached it below. But anyway if I'm correct what is the backing chord? Because the way I transcribe the lick ends in a 'b' note but the chord I think is A major and that don't 'fit' theory wise.

And if I'm way off with the transcribing its my first attempt so don't be too critical:) but I think I'm really close

Thanks

Hey flathead...

thanks for asking. I had to listen back to the recording, cuz as you might know, most of the lead guitar in this song was improvised.
I slightly edited your TAB and tabbed out the arp I think I was actually playing... arpeggiating an Asus2, then moving up to the third of Amaj, C# ( 14th fret, B-string )
You are correct otherwise, good job on figuring out the taps ( and that itīs tapping at all ) !!
Now regarding the B-note...
The underlying chords are an Asus2 ( the other, F#m based chord is shown in the TAB I attached to this post ). The Asus2 consists of the notes A-B-E so a B fits well over it. The F#m-based chord has an open B- and E-string so here, the B fits too.
I love the sound of sus2 and add9 chords, and I enjoy playing over them because it gives me some different options regarding chord tones.
I feel honored that youīre trying to figure out the tune, and I hope I was able to help you with this question...
Thanks
Eric

I posted a TAB of the chord-progressions, intro and theme over at another thread... here it is, attached to this post.
The part you were referring to is being played over the "Chorus Chords".
Thanks

No I didnt see that!! Thanks!!
Funny, right after I posted I went to the store to get some food and in my car it hit me, "maybe its an Asus2" I came back home and tried it and it seemed to work. So I was going to edit my post when I saw you already answered. So thanks for all your help!!! and for the great song.

Hey there...

maybe this will be useful... I remembered that I still have some backing tracks that I use for workshops and showcases. So I figured I could upload a "Hidden Creek" backing / jam track for you.
This is not the original one from the version on my site, but I guess it will do in case you feel like jamming over it a bit.
This is the backing track I used at JemFest in Oct.

Hope youīll like it

LOL, OMG I am listening to it right now... WHO PUT ALL THAT REVERB ONTO THE RHYTHM GUITAR ? LOL, itīs kinda ridiculous.
But when we did those backing tracks, it was some weird late-night, in-a-hurry-session... so now the rhythm guitar sounds like itīs been recorded in an airport terminal... :)
But I guess you can still jam over it...

THANKS!! I like the sound of the guitars. To me the song reminds me of peacefully walking in the woods (the opening piano part) and then when the guitars kick in, its like reaching the top of the hill, or turning the corner and unexpectedly seeing some beautiful waterfall or some other marvelous creation of nature. Its that feeling. So for me, the guitars have to be big and majestic.

Thanks, I am glad you like it anyway.
I think what happened was that during the downmix, somehow only the wet signal was mixed into the track... the drx main-signal seems to be missing.
We recorded the guitars, then I left, and a few days later a friend brought me the CD with those backing tracks. Didnīt even have a chance to check them out in a stereo, so I first heard them on stage when I was jamming over them.

Regarding those images you see in your mind when ya hear the tune... well, THANKS for sharing that. And that is pretty much exactly what I had in mind.
I mean, everyone probably sees something different when listening to an instrumental song, but sometimes itīs freaky how people see exactly what the player had in mind.
The creek that the song is about ( MY hidden creek )... well, I think I told that story before. But walking there was pretty much exactly like you described it.
We would have to walk a mile or so through the woods behind the house we lived in back then. There would be a small path, and a lot of trees and bushes left and right.
Then, thereīd be a small opening among the trees, on the left side. Youīd step through that, walk down a steep little hill, and there it was... a huge clearing, the creek, a little pond.
It was beautiful to see that every time we went.
Anyway, thanks for sharing !
Eric
