Hello IBreatheMusic,

I'm the lucky owner of a Lee Jackson XLS500 head, the thing is a real shredder! For the ones who don't know Lee Jackson, it's a guy who designs amplifiers for Crate, Ampeg, among others.
He used to design custom amplifiers for Steve Vai, George Lynch, Zakk Wylde and many other famous musicians.
He once had his own brand, the famous Lee Jackson amps. But like you read.. once had.

There is still a site online (http://www.leejackson.com), but no forums, no working email, no contactaddress. Anyway noone is responding at all. So what to do if my amp gets broken? I do have a background in electronics, but how could i get that schematic of my amp. Already tried several ways..like contacting Joseph Piazza, schematicheaven and dozens of other sites.
Anybody here who could help me out?

Thanx..Essatic:confused:

Hi

Well, I am familiar with Leeīs work, I once played a Marshall amp which was heavily modified by the dude. He did a great job on that one.

For diagrams in general, check this site:
Ampage (http://www.firebottle.com/ampage/)

They have a bunch of diagrams there. No Lee Jackson amps, but they do have a forum where you could ask.

II think the best advice I can give you is:
Go to this site: Metaltronix (http://www.metaltronix.net)
As you might know, Lee started that company and built those amps ( Paul Gilbert used them for a lil while ). There is an Email-adress of a dude called Jason
Jason @ Metaltronix (jason@metaltronix.net)

I am sure that he can hook you up with Lee... he mentions him and also mentions the book Lee is going to publish this year ( which will feature all the diagrams )...

One more thing, I use quite a few different amps, some modified ones, too... and I hardly ever bring them to the original company to have them repaired. There are a bunch of great amp-repair-guys who can figure out and fix most amps even if they donīt have the original schematics ( might take a bit longer, but itīs cheaper than shipping them to the company in most cases )...
Hope this helps
Good luck and let us know whether you get the schematics or not...
Warm regards
Eric

Hey Eric,

Seems like you did a great job again! I forgot about the metaltronix site, I haven't mailed them yet (wanted to say thanks to you first), but I'm sure they can help me. I already could download a manual of a lee jackson amp, so a great start!
You have no idea how many times I've put this request online at other sites.. yup.. this place rules!!!

Thanks for your quick advice!!

By the way... www.schematicheaven.com has a good collection of schematics too, but also no lee jackson

hey Eric,

Seems like I'll have more luck searching for a good technician, instead of that amp schematic. I mailed Metaltronix and this is what I received:

Hi Tom,

Unfortunately there is no customer support for Lee Jackson. Your best bet is to contact your local guitar stores and ask them if they know of any amp techs in the area. From there you can contact the amp techs to see if they are familiar with Lee Jackson amplifiers.

I receive a lot of emails asking about support, so today I added a list of amp techs who have experience with Lee Jackson / Metaltronix amps. There is only one tech on the page so far, but hopefully people will submit more names in the coming months.

Good Luck!
Jason

Luckely I do know some good technicians, actually bought the amp from one of them! Thanks for your good advice anyway.

Hi,

uhmmm... thatīs weird. But at least you got SOME information from Jason that might be helpful once you have a problem with the amp.
If you ever have any problems, and you wouldnīt mind making a little trip to Germany to get tech-help, lemme know and I will provide some adresses and / or phone numbers of some of the guitar techs I know there... I am sure that guys like Dirk Baldringer will be able to help you even without the schematics.
Some of these guys are wizards ;)
Warm regards

My current technician also attended GIT, he has opened a shop nearby with modifications of guitars, tubeamps and effects, so it's like a gift from heaven! He sure can help me out, it just would've been easier with a schematic :(

He used to play in a coverband of Satriani, and was endorsed by ibanez. He's the fastest unknown guitarist i've come across, and lucky me, will be one of his 6 pupils, starting next week!!:D

So it will be shredding time!!
I'll let you know how it went

Thanks for letting us know. Iīm glad you found a good teacher.
It sure helps a lot to progress and stay motivated...
And the lower prizes on gear wonīt hurt neither, right ? ;)

Regards to a fellow GIT-alumni :)

I forgot to mention something last time...

When class began... that teacher started almost immediately about intervals.. major 2nd, perfect 4th ..and so on..

I was lucky to understand the whole idea.... because I've read Guni's article about intervals in here!

You see..this site really helps you out!

Hey Guni,

I already placed an ad at some belgian guitarsites, to promote
IBreatheMusic.com, we'll see what happens.

I've already informed my teacher about this site... will remind him next time ;-)
