Hello,
I am trying to learn the lead for I'm Broken. I am just stumped on how to pull this off. Can anyone offer any tips on what scale he is using or how to go about learning this? I feel that I am capable of playing it, but it just isn't making any sense! I attached the ptb here and the solo starts on measure 66. The part that is throwing me off is starting in measure 68 and ends around 70. That is just nuts! Can anyone out there play that?
Thanks,

I think the reason that you are having problems with this is because some of the tab sounds a little off. You really need to listen to the recording to get this spot on. From bar 71 to the end of the solo there are a few rough spots. As for the sequence that you are talking about, (68, 70) just slow it down with the program and get the timing of the lick right. The thing about dimes solos is there are always these cool rythmic licks in them, and they can take a while to nail. What a great lead this is! Good luck

Hi,
Are you saying the errors are after measure 70, or there are errors in that whole lead? Nothing like learning something the wrong way, only to have to relearn it the right way!
He said in an interview he was a fan of wide pentatonic stretches ala EVH, this one isn't as wide as Ice Cream Man but I feel its harder!
Thanks

dime isnt the kind of guy that is bound by scales or anything, like EVH, he knows little about the theory side of what he is playing, and he's a big fan of the 'noise factor' as he calls it (i.e. weird out-there noises) so powertab's midi playback really cant do it much justice...
i think the main problem with that particular tab is on bars 69 and 70, it doesnt float around the same group of notes as much as dime does.
i had a go at tabbing it, with reference to my 'riffer madness' book, but i included the bits that it doesnt give and changed a few things to get it as right as possible.. i think i might have messed up the time signatures in some places because they change so often, and the part with the two-string bending at the 20th fret is fairly out. but its just to try to show what i do.
hope it helps :)
