Ok fellas, I was practicing this picking exercise yesterday and had it where I could play it up to 135 bpm cleanly and relaxed. Today, when I went back to play I couldn't play anything right and couldn't even get the exercise up to 110 cleanly. I was wondering if you guys had these kind of "off days" and if you do, how do you deal with it? Do you just take a break from the guitar for a day or what?

Any input would be really appreciated because it was very frustrating today.

Hey buddy... i have had those kind of days... speccially when it comes to singing... sometimes you just are not in shape, because you are tired for a bad night of sleep or too much excersise, or many other things... in my experience i would say rest for a day, and do not over do yourself... and you will be fine in a couple of days.

Yes, Salsa is right, it happens to most ( or all ) of us in some way or another. Itīs one of those voodoo "human elements".
A lack of sleep, mental exhaustion, stress, personal problems ( worries ), being sick... all that can mess you up, can alter your playing.
And sometimes it happens for no reason at all, or at least you canīt tell what the reason is.

I remember, last year I had to play a 3-song-showcase somewhere, and I had high fever ( pretty bad flu, I wanted to play it anyway ). It was hard to stand up straight, so you can imagine how tough it was to play...

Anyway, this might be all different today, or tomorrow. Donīt worry, take a break, relax, work on something else. Itīs natural
