I can do most whammy stuff and harmonics (Vai/Satch style). But Van Halen does some odd ones that I im havin trouble finding...also havin to get used to my Axis hehe....im so used to whammy bars that pull back for those raised pitch harmonics and gargles.
Thanks dudes.

Post some examples please! :)
I used to know how to play (mangle?) just about every Van Halen song through 5150. I may be able to help but I'm not sure which lick(s) you're talkin' about.

ok matey, thanks for the reply.
I'll get right onto it :)
oh the axis is nice, although only complaint is when it arrived didn't have matching headstock. Although not a biggie I just forgot to ask for it...but if i had it would have meant I would have had to wait a lot longer for guitar. No biggie still plays the same ;)
nice tobacco sunburst finish, i will post pics when i get around to stealing my friends digital camera.
Axis, not many use them...but I may be wrong but is it a misconception on my part that an axis is considered the "guitarist's guitar"
I mean I could have got a wolfgang a fair bit cheaper but I have played about 3 or 4 wolfgangs in my life including a custom model and just didnt match the impact that was made by a secondhand Axis that was in one of my local guitar shops over a year ago.
I just fell in love with it.
Heck i had pretty much bought my axis without seeing it lol. Guess it shows when you know exactly what you want
oh I cranked my JMP MKII 50 Watt head the other day.....everything up full hehe ....this is what i got, damn mic really couldnt take it i had to position it a fair bit away. I played the riff and when i checked the recording and the original to compare i noticed i played it wrong i was all bummed out and couldnt be bothered re-recording it again and I doubt the neighbours would have been happy.

I dunno which of the harmonics in the MP3 ( thatīs a clip from the "316" solo on the "Live: RIght Here Right Now" album, correct ? ) you have trouble with.
So I recorded two short clips doing some whammy antics inspired by Eddie. Most of the whammy tricks in that MP3 you posted are harmonics at the 5th and 7th fret with some whammy-ing... pressing down on the bar while shaking it etc. He also pressed it down so the strings go slack and hit the frets...
Hope this helps:

( RealMedia version of No.2, in case you donīt have the Media Player or experience problems with watching the clips above )
I didnīt try to play exactly what I heard in the MP3, I just grabbed the Ibanez and did some wild whammy-stuff with harmonics and such. At the end of the second one, I did a "Satch Boogie" harmonic at the 14th fret... Those are hard to get sometimes, a lot of gain will help =)
Hope the vids will help

thanks eric, but i can do that just, u know the kind of signature EVH whammy harmonics he does?
erm let me see if theres one on that example thing.....like the first one he does (the phrase) kind of a combination there, goin down then another comin up. is it a pull of string and drop then harmonic on lower frets as its comin up. then is it a rake pinched harmonic then whammy warble....ach doesnt matter lol
