Hey I'm wondering what are some good Heavy metal chords and scales to use on guitar and bass? I want to know as much as I can so if anybody got any info and suggestions, write as much man. What are some really evil scales and chords, oh and some scales that you think will help me out.

How about the phrygian dominant scale(1 b2 3 4 5 b6 b7). It has a kind of sinister quality to it. very suited for metal.
You can hear the phrygian dominant in Powerslave by Iron Maiden btw.

Also how about the diminished scales and chords or the good ole minor scale

Harmonic minor (natural minor with a raised 7th)
An example would be A harmonic minor: A B C D E F G# A
Really cool sounding scale, can sound spanish and middle eastern.

And what about the chromatic scale? you can always use some off notes added to let say a natural minor or something like that and it can spices everything up. Just listen to slayer, a lot and a lot of off notes but well placed.
