I was messing around tonight, and I noticed when I bend around the 14th fret on the top e string, I get to a point (about a full pitch bend) where the note suddenly mutes out. At first I thought it might have been a stray finger or something.
But it seems that when I bend the string there, the string gets very close to the higher frets. I think it's touching those frets and the string is being muted. It's only on the top e string, and only around the 14th fret that it seems to happen.
It's the first time I've ever seen this kind of thing happen. The action on my guitar is not that low, in fact I think it is a little high. I just recently changed strings from Dean Markley 9s to Ernie Ball Super Slinkies (9s as well). My teacher warned me that they seemed to be slightly higher in guage than they indicated. Seeing as I have a FR bridge, I would have thought that this would raise the action, if anything.
Any ideas on what could be causing it? Do I just have to raise the action? It seems fairly high already...
