I'm just curious what your top 5 guitar websites(beside IBM) are? I'm just looking for some other forums and maybe some more lessons. So what are your favorite guitar websites?

You need not go any further than IBM mate. It's all in here. What else do you want to know ?!? ;)

I think www.powertabs.net is the best guitar site other than IBM

What else do you need? You've got almost everything you need to know on the articles and if it's not there or you need further coverage on a subject you have the forums and you can always ask wise ones such as Mr Koala :)

Then wise Mr. Koala will wait for someone smart to post before he does and end the thread posting "exactly what i was gonna say, you beat me to to it! :)

Every neighborhood has its established public with loyal customers, but a few others I like to visit on occasion:

www.harmony-central.com
www.ibreathemusic.com
www.guitar.com

I will have to say that this website is buy far the best guitar website available on the net, and here are my reasons:

1) Very well organized. From the forums to the articles

2) The best lessons on the net in the best format available. So many other sites offer lessons but still use the ASCIIISISIS (whatever it is) format.

3) The lessons again are top notch by top notch artists that aren't afraid of sharing their music. So many other sites offer lessons but who are they byy and really are these guys worthy of giving lessons. At IBM you know you are getting information from great players because they also share their ability through videos and audio....

4) Very well moderated

5) It's members IMO are some of the best around. And that is because of the moderators and the members. Alot of other websites may have many more users and members, but IBM gives you the "make yourself at home feeling", even if you don't understand modes and still ask the same questions. We don't have flame wars or "you suck" comments. I truely believe that IBM brings in a higher class people because of the example set forth by the Mods and it's members.

6) Content specific. IBM maintains it's focus on learning and creating. The forums venture out into other areas, but when you come to IBM you see articles about learning and creating and exanding. When you come to IBM you come to learn and fellowship with other great players or those trying to become great.

7) It's free!! Sometimes I feel really guilty sitting here printing off these lessons to take home and to study and practice, well maybe not guilty, rather fortunate. Other sites charge you for their lessons. And if they give you a free lesson it's on something stupid like how to restring your guitar. IBM stands above the rest because of this. All the props in the world to the admins and mods for your great lessons and free advice....

Yes IBM is good but......

www.guitarnoise.com IMO is also just as good, but different. They have articles that teach you songs, granted they are not Steve Vai type complex songs but the articles I think are very good. The vibe I get there is thats its geared more toward the average joe type guitar player, as opposed to here where sometimes I feel its geared more for the serious hardcore musician. (not saying thats bad, they are just different IMO) These two sites are all you need.

and when I'm too tired to play www.petrucciforums.com

Carvin.com - good forums; very active; not near as much theory or technique related talk there. Usually more gear related, as you might expect. However you're likely to get any topic in the Lounge there (except religion, which has been banned).

Guitarnuts.com - awesome site for guitar modding

Homerecording.com - lotsa help for recording newbies like me

Musictheory.net - some excellent trainers (ear, fretboard, etc) there

Yeah this site kicks ***! You really have no need for anything else! However there are a few other sites I frequented before finding this one:

www.wholenote.com - Great site who's content is completely user based. You can set up your own personal home page there. Awesome site for beginners in just about any style.

www.mysongbook.com - Besides Powertab this is an awesome transcription archive but for Guitar Pro files. Between these two sites you can find just about any song you are looking for. Guitar Pro isn't free like Powertab is but the shareware will at least let you view and print files.

www.insaneguitar.net - A good shred based site. My only grips are that it hasn't been updated in over 3 months, the lessons aren't printer friendly, and the forums aren't really active or informative like IBM.

I really have no other sites that I go to get articles other than IBM. I goto to various other sites for resource material though. Here's a few...
1. www.powertabs.net (http://www.powertabs.net/) - obviously largest selection of powertabs out there.
2. www.power-chord.com/gaff (http://www.power-chord.com/gaff) - largest Guitar Scale/Chord/Tuning site on the entire web IMO. If it doesn't have a scale/mode your looking for then chances are when you find out, submit it and it will.
3. www.mxtabs.net (http://www.mxtabs.net) - it has some ASCII tabs that help out.
4. http://eng.digitalsound.de/gtp.php - has the largest selection of Guitar Pro files I've ever seen, which might not say much. Both English and German sites available. For german site visit http://www.digitalsounds.de/gtp.php.

To me, this is one of the best sites on the net, if not THE BEST. I just joined this forum! Hi all! But I've also been a member of the PetrucciForums for a few years now and that's a great place, although I must admit it has changed a little bit since I first became a member there. But this place definitely seems to have not quite as many members and a little bit more homelike as someone else said. That's why I joined...hehe! Glad to be here!:D

Is well worth a look for many well known solo's and riffs and it has sound files. Take a peek.

This site really rules, but for the hands-on side of guitars, I think www.projectguitar.com (http://www.projectguitar.com) is very very good, tons of info and huge list of links. I've spent much time there since I'll be building my guitar this summer.
