I am trying to tune new strings on an RG2570 Edge Pro. I am tuning say low E then by the time I get to the high E the bridge is facing upwards like / instead of -, then all the others are out of tune again and again and again. Could someone help please?

Hahah. Typical Floyd newbie ;)

You changed to a thicker guage didn't you? An FR tremelo depends on the tension of the strings and the springs attached to the tremelo plate in order to stay balance and in tune. You will have to play with the springs in the back of your guitar to get it to balance out.

When tuning don't go right down the line either. Do Low E... than high E... then check low E... then do A.... then check both E's then check A again... then do B... and so on and so forth. Everytime you tune a new string check the ones you did before it. And make sure the strings are nice and streched out too. Tune it up... take the string in your fingers and stretch it around... keep playing around like this until everything stays in tune.

I know it's a headache... but that's what you have to do when you change guages like that. The next time you change strings stick to the same guage to avoid having to set the whole thing up again. And change one string at a time to! Tune it up before you go to the next and everything should fall right into place and take you less than 20 minutes to do a string change ;)

Well, I take all my strings off when I change strings (every two weeks) so I can clean my fretboard really good. I use an old, thick mouse pad that I've cut into pieces just large enough to slide in the trem cavity to hold the bridge in place.

Rizla, your problem is like Dan said.. you probably got heavier gauged strings and now they are pulling with more force than the springs holding the trem in place. So your going to have to screw the screws holding the claw down tighter to pull harder against the strings... Here's instructions from the experts on Edge trems:

Hope that helps

Yeah Chris bring up a good point. You can get something to lock the tremelo in place, letting you take ALL the strings off for some fretboard maintenance.

The gauge is the same, 009. I gave it some stretch with the bar but still I am having to tune up again and again, it is never ending.

I have a 602, why do you want an edge? OFRs are just as good in my opinion, plus youll probly have to route out the cavity to fit an edge seen as made by ibanez and blah.. not much of an expert myself but thats what ive read

No, im sure the bridge you have is aqn original floyd rose, those arent made by esp, and theyr good bridges, ive never had any trouble with mine, Edge Pros are the ibanez made bridge and are basically based on floyd roses design, although apparently theyr just as good if not better, but i dont know how youd get hold of one
