Hi all

Sorry to bother with such a stupid question....

But I was wondering what CHOPS are...?
I've never heard this term before.

(ashamed)

Chops = Technical abilities... your playing. Players who have good technical skills ( this does not only refer to speed ) are usually referred to as "A dude with chops" :)

What Eric said!

The term comes from brass players, who literally have to use their chops (slang term for lips/mouth) to play the instrument.

Wow, it's been a long time since I heard that term. I usually hear people say "man, this guy can play fast" and then compare them to some other well known guitar player...lol...

I thought chops were also a playing style that classical guitarist like Yngwie use. For example 12-10-12-8-12-7-12- or somthing like taht, clasical guitarists and pianists are always doing it. Where you play one note over and over but in between it play a different one.
