I can write songs on guitar so easily but when it comes to lyrics, they are straight up horrible. Any tips for writing lyrics would be appreciated!

it's almost impossible to sit down and start to come up with lyrics that are worthe writting down..
try sitting around in thought for an hour or so, just hanging around not really focusing on anything keeping your mind clean.. think about what you want to write about, it really doesnt matter what you choose to sing about thats all on you.. once you figure out one good opening line wich the rest of the song will feed off of..
depending on what type of music.. but it doesnt matter what you sing about, putting it to the right music will make the song.. i can sit around and make songs about the news that is scrolling on the bottom of the tv..
but depending on the method you can work with, that method is for writting lyrics without having music first...
the other method would be using music.. write your rythem, start huming along with the notes.. try and come up with some sweet sounding melodies..
then start singing bull **** off the top of your head, the more serious you attempt to be, the better.. write the good lines down.. eventually you may beable to put the guitar down and start feeding off the first lines you came up with..
any doubts about lyrics should be written out.. never settle untill it's perfect..
maybe this helps..

I find it extremely hard to try and write something that isn't totally related to me in some way.
Most my songs are depressive love songs.
How I started out, if it help, take existing songs, and just change the words to what are meaningful to you. I would later change the melody completly on guitar, and sing the song in a different tune, worked great for me.
Most important thing for me is never to try and force a song, cuz they just come out crap.
and don't always try to make the versus rhyme

Another thing you can try is to write some lyrics as if they have nothing to do with a song, they're just a poem or words that flo0w together well and then, once you have something, pick up the guitar and try and add the music to it. This can work for me sometimes if I'm stumped. And remember, it doesn't matter if the first few suck, as long as you are getting a feel for it and improving, it's all good!

Alright.. You usually begin to tire after 16 houres of awakeness--- Remember when you were kids, and your parents put you to bed early after maybe only 14 or 12 houres of awakeness? I dunno about you guys, but my head was full of weird ideas, and i'd usually draw until i fell asleep. That way I got really good at drawing.
But if I go to bed early, I can NEVER sleep, and my head is again full of musical or lyrical ideas.. In the last couple of weeks I've been writing them down so that i could remember them.. And i always keep a guitar in my bedroom.
But it's far from often that I go to bed early, and if you try to reach the not-ready-to-sleep state of mind syntetically (by the mighty power of coffee and coffein), you're screwed. DON'T DO THIS!! You are listening to an experienced person here. You should only drink coffee if you know exactly what youre going to do, and how you're gonna do it..!
Hope this helps!

When I have a song completed... I normally put it into powertab... Then play it at loud volume, and plug in my mic and sing what ever comes to mind... Still haven't been successful though lol... It's finding something to sing about that annoys me ;P

when im bored/inspired by something i.e a William Blake poem, i write poems in the same vein as the mood I'm in. Now, these poems don't nescessarily rhyme. Once i've written them I usually put them somewhere I'll forget about them, like in my schoolbag or washing basket.
Eventually I'll come across them again, in a completely different mood to when i wrote them, and I'll instinctively think how it could be improved, and then I'll just sit down and alter it, making some lines rhyme etc, and adding a chorus...
