A stiff wirst...

Hi there :)

I've got some serious problems with my wirst... although i've been playing the guitar for two years or so i've latterly noticed that my wirst is extremly stiff !!! i don't know what to do with it... when i play some chords, hitting the strings "downward" it's okey (i hope) but trying to add some upward movement everything sounds crummy :( and what is more... no matter what chords i play, they always sound the same so to speak... like as if they were at the same sound level... i think that there's something wrong with the stress or accent ??? HELP !!! it's so irritating :mad:

From your post I dont really get if you consider this to be a technical or physical issue. ANyhow I recommend you warm up your wrists before playing by moving them in a circular motion, first slow, then slowly adding speed. Then when you grab the guitar slowly strum up and down a chord exagerating the right hand motion, then start reducing the movement until its actually practical and keep it at the same slow speed. AFter a while speed up a bit and maybe play through a progression.

Just stretch your arms by doing the circular motion described above or you could wrap a warm (WARM not HOT) dishcloth around your hand/wrist/forearm. Mainly just get the blood flowing and that area yourbody physically warm.
