Hi Everyone, I no questions about tapping have been asked many times but when playing a riff like this:::

T.................T...............
13----5----8 13----5----8

Where 'T' is tap, do you use the side of ur pik to tap and thus fret the note on the 13th???

Cheers

You can either use the pick or your finger. I prefer to use my middle finger. But it sounds like you got the idea of it: fret the 5 with your lift hand, tap the 13th fret with either your finger or pick and when you lift the pick off you will essentially pull off to the 5th fret, then just hammer down on the 8th fret with your left hand.

Pick or finger or toungue. Whichever rocks your boat.

That's good. :D

I prefer to use my middle finger also, so I can hold the pick normal like and get right back to pickin when I'm done showing off. :D :p

Excellent, thanks a bunch. What about short phrases that incorporate or end on a tap?? How do you build speed with thesE? i.e. moving ur picking hand up to the desired fret to be tapped. Is it just practice?

I'll upload a few tapping excersizes I do every now and then. It REALLY helps in building your tapping.
