Ive been playing my new electric for only 4 hours or so and already the B string broke! Is it that the strings that come with the pack are bad? Any suggestions for good electric strings?

Yes, go for anything from D'addario, Ernie Ball and Elixer. I use d'addario 120. I have never ever broken a string either. If you have purchased erm like an electric guitar starter pack thing then yes they are probably bad^^

I agree with Rizla on D´Addario, Ernie Ball and id add PRS strings to that list.

Indeed!
Just go to the store and ask for d'Addario XL .009. And if you maintain the guitar (clean after playing etc.), they'll serve you well for a decent amount of time.
I've never tried PRS strings before. Maybe I'll do that in the near future.

I'd recommend Ernie Balls, I assume they're cheaper than D' Adarrios?

wiechfreak,
Did the B string break at the saddle? If so, it could be that the saddle for that string is too sharp and cuts the string after a while.

Good thinking Moon Shadow, I recently had to get my saddle filed down with a needle file, only took a few mins.

Blah, I've never ever bought D'Addario strings before. Know why? I daren't say "Hey can I have some D'addario 10's please?" incase I say 'D'addario' wrong :D Thats why I stick with Ernie Balls, they serve me well, just remember to make sure the strings are properly stretched before you start playing to avoid them snapping.

lol, just point to them and say "I want those, yeah the ones right above (or next to or below) the Ernie balls"

About PRS strings, I'm not sure about this but a lot of guitar companies strings are just strings packaged exclusively for them from one of the major string manufacturers. Typically that's the case when you don't see the strings in every music store you enter. DR strings are great as well. On electric they've been lasting me a hell of a long time (I'm a little obsessive about keeping them clean though). On acoustic however they were the best strings that I ever installed. Lasted over a year and maintained their brilliance. Not only did they last a long time, but I haven't heard a set of strings sound that great.

I have used D´Addarios for years... they are durable, sound great, and I never find a dented one when I unpack them ( have seen that happening with several other brands )

Regarding PRS strings... havent even heard about them, so I can´t comment on those. But what I do know is that the guys at PRS always used to put D- Addarios on their prototypes and used them as reference strings.

Hey guys regarding the PRS strings, they´re pretty much new and at least according to them they make them, as opposed to just repackaging other brand strings. I really suggest you give em a try. Whats more, buy 10 packs and if you dont like em send me the other 9 :D

I've been using ERNIe ball 10-46 which last long but I am going to soon try Daddario 10's or DR's. I like Daddarios because they are colorful.
