So i have trouble learning a song. Or even learning an exercise. I can sit down, do my chromatics or exercises i know, but when it comes to learning a song or exercise off the internet im useless! I will download the tab, but i will dismiss it because- i cant be bothered, it "looks" to hard, it doesnt sound right.
I cant really seem to get out of this stage of playing, any help would be appreciated :(

Start with incredibly easy songs to build up your repertoire. Lots of folk or folk-rock type stuff, easy country strumming stuff....that sort of thing. Pretty soon you'll have 10 or 20 or 30 songs at your disposal and you'll possess a new-found confidence which makes stepping up to difficult selections a less daunting task.

Dave, youre just being lazy.:D Whatcha expect, some sort of formula so things work out without putting any work into them? NO PAIN NO GAIN! NOW GET TO WORK!
try to print tabs out, a helluva lot nicer to read somethinf off paper than a puter screen.
good luck!

I have the same thing, kind of. When I learn a song, I find it pointless to learn the whole thing because I'm not in a band, I have no use for the rythym parts or anything. This way I just learn the solos. I have learned only a few songs straight through, like "Always with me, always with you", "Tears in the Rain", and actually thats it. And they don't have any rhythym parts. But I know I will soon have to start learning whole songs.

Thanks for the advice. Ill keep being lazy and take Skinnydevil :D
On a serious note towards Koala's comment, i havent had time to sit down and learn a song lately- probably 80% of the holidays.
P.S Im making sure i Learn ETB these holidays ( :D )

On a side note.. would you mind listing say a dozen or so of these or point me where I could find a good list of them. Would like to learn a good handful of songs from a variety of styles :)

This reminds me, I wrote an article about this and planned a forum topic about it. I'll have to dig it out and send it to Guni, see if he is interested enough to post it. If anyone wants I'll make it availible here and just upload it somewhere for people to download, or email them it.
