I never learned the secret behind the squeal. I know how to do pinched harmonics but is that all that is happening. in praticular the Timmons song I'm still learning he does it going into the first solo section and I dont know if hes just throwing out crazzy pinches or using a wammy with it or what.

I dunno if this helps but Joe Satriani has a kind of Satch squeal. He hits pinch harmonics on th 2nd and 3rd? (B and G?) strings, the two strings that are higher than the high e-string, sorry i get upside down when reading guitar strings. Well anyway he hits the pinch harmonics on both open strings simaltaneously and the depresses the Wang (as i call it : - ) ) bar. Well if Timmons uses something totally different, sorry for thinking i knew the answer! Sean

what pickups and amp setup do you have? it's often that a particular setup will make "squeals" hard to achive. like on my ibanez RG i can get pinched harmonics at any fret, any string with ease. but on my fat strat thru a less gainy amp, it's almost impossible to hit them.

I dont have a problem getting pinched harmonics. The problem is getting it to squeel like he does. I have a berhinger v-amp and an esp ec 400 with emg 81s.

that might be your problem. when guys like satch and timmons get those high moaning squeals you have to remember, they have their amps cranked in isolated booths. the louder your amp, the easier it is. and they almost always use a bar with it. using different force (or velocity) with your thumb will create different sounds. to get the really high squeals you really have to dig in with your thumb, and bending the note helps too. :D
