Ok so my main problem would have to be my ear. Thats the first. He descrivbed some ways of developing it and some of thoes ways I have down. What else could I do to develope this. Another problem is when I get inspired. I never seem to get anything in my head when im at home. I am always usualy working or at work and im board and it just click comes in. It sounds great but i have no way of getting it down. I dont have perfect pitch either or else I would keep it in my head for long enough and write it down on a napkin in the lunch break room lol. So how can I develope this. The other 2 things hess said that could be lacking other guitarist in this area that are more exoerenced than me by like 20+ years say I have a good grasp on(of course not near perfect but decent ;) ) anyways any help on this crazy delma would be helpful. I read his article and as soon as he started describing the problems he had BAM it was the same exact thing with me. Thanks.

I dont know...I have been playing 3 1/2 to 4 years...and I am JUST now getting to where I can get stuff in my ears and on my guitar.......Now I cant write it down in manuscript.....but I can play it.....and I can only transcribe stuff to a point....I think that transcribeing is somthing that you need to work on over time....am I write? or am I just really really behind? :D
Have a good one,
Ryan

Memorize the sound of all intervals. Sing scales. Improvise and sing everything you are playing. Sing harmonies to your improvisation (a perfect 5th at first, then do harder intervals, major 3rd, major 6th, major 7th, diminished 5th, minor 2nd). Sing a melody then try to play it perfectly on guitar (play it right the first time, no guessing). Those are some of the exercises I use to develop MY ear and they are really working like a charm. I'm becoming more creative when I improvise and my ideas are starting to sound much better.
