Wanted to see them but at $90 bucks a pop the tickets were just too expensive to go with my wife. Had to pass.
I'm curious how their new albums is and has been received as well. Not a big fan of their first radio release "It's about time" :(

I dont think Eddie is quite as amazing as he was... He is showing his age... i havent seen them but i have heard about shows and he isnt quite 100% on spot with the songs... and some of the new songs are a little.... not so good...
Still worth seeing i guess but i would have loved to have seen Eddie back in his prime... He was GOD..

I saw the show when they came to Hartford, CT about a month ago. Let me tell you, they have not lost one bit of energy or musical integrity.
Sammy's voice was amazing, and Eddie was top-notch as far as I'm concerned.
I saw "Van Halen: Live without a Net" (the video from the 1987 tour) a long time ago, and then I bought Van Halen Live: Right here right now. Both his solo spots consist of basically the same stuff, which is "clips" from his famous solos. He would play parts of Eruption, Cathedral, Spanish Fly, and the song 316. When I saw them Back in 1998 with Gary Cherone, he basically played the same thing he's been playing since 1987!
However, when I saw him recently, there was a bunch of new stuff added to his solo spot, material that I've never heard before. It was exciting and refreshing to hear. His son, Wolfgang, actually came out during the solo spot and played a little duet with Eddie. I thought that was cute. I can't imagine the pressure of being EVH's son, especially if you're going to play guitar!
All in all, it was a great show. Besides, how many more times are you going to get a chance to hear the legendary Eddie play? He smokes so many cigarettes, and he already had to get a piece of his tongue cut out due to tongue cancer. I was thrilled to get to see him and his band in top-notch condition, hopefully not for the last time in my life.
