Hey All, new guy here. A co-worker just turned me on to this site. I am a guitarist and a semi-professional musician. I have been playing guitar since 1979. I have two degrees in music. I look forward to chatting with you all.

Here are a list of my influences to give you an idea of where I'm coming from:

My Wife Stacy (inspiration, love and encouragement)
My Grandfather, Fred McLellan
Dave Putney (a brilliant songwriter and a true friend)
The Remnants - (Tom Despres, Chris Mathews & Phil D'Antonio)
David Keefe (Choir director at St. Francis Parish, Dracut)
Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee, Neil Peart (Rush)
Michael Timmins and Jeff Bird of Cowboy Junkies
Steve Howe (Yes and various offshoots)
Craig Chaquico (Solo, Starship)
Donald Erdbrink (New Age Musician and college friend)
Andres Segovia (The Master!)
Classical Guitarist John Williams
Folios Guitar Duo (Neil Anderson & Bill Buonocore)
Daniel Cox (Classical Guitarist from Calgary)
Neil Young (and all of his different faces)
Stevie Ray Vaughan (still in mourning)
Eric Johnson (Smooth and fluid)
Frank Gambale (love those mellow grooves)
Steely Dan (Don, Walt, and their many lineups
Larry Carlton (especially on Steely Dan's "Gaucho" Album)
Mark Tremonti of Creed
Matthew Piaker (re-awakened the songwriter within me)
Eddie From Ohio (In my opinion, one of the greatest bands ever)
Simon & Garfunkel

I have an Associates in Liberal Arts/Music and I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Business from UMass Lowell.

UML has a tough program, conservatory-like. I'm not using my degree to make money (student loans, aaaaaah) but I am in 3 bands so I'm using my degree :)

Thanks for the welcome Eric, Guni and MetalJustice83!

Oh, my main gear

1988 Fender Strat Plus
197? Penco (Ibanez) Lawsuit Les Paul
1981 Vantage VP
1998 Applause Roundback
1991 Fender Gemini II Dreadnaught
...and more, can you ever have enough? ;)

Nice to find a site to celebrate being a musician

You would not by any chance know Peter Spellman? isn't he a faculty member of the Music Business Department there? Also he's teaching at Berklee - that's where I got to know him.

By name only. I never met him but had heard of him. When I was there ('92-'96) Scott Fredrickson (now of Loyola in New Orleans) was the head of/and only faculty member of the Music Biz program. Not sure if Peter Spellman was before or after but I have heard the name. Small world :)
