Yeah, that duel-part from the Crossroads-movie has become pretty legendary... a lot of players learn that one.
Steve Vai really played some cool stuff there, and it definitely is a chopbuilder.
Let us know about your progress with it

Great stuff to work on your picking, too.
This is a pretty legendary piece of music. I remember watching the movie the first time... I was blown away. Still love that thing, and occasionally play it.
I guess you know already that the classical part at the end ( commonly referred to as "Eugene´s Trick Bag" ) is based on Caprice No.5 ( or was it 6... nah ! ) by Niccolo Paganini... Steve used the beginning of that, and then added his own stuff.
The movie´s a classic, especially among guitarists.
If I remember correctly, the slow blues-stuff and the slide-things were recorded by Ry Cooder, the classical guitar parts at the beginning were by Henry ( not sure about his first name, though ) Kannengiesser, the whole head-cutting duel was done by Steve Vai, and Arlen Roth was involved by showing Ralph Macchio how to make it look as if he was playing...

I finished the classical part, and had it starting to really spead up, but then school ended, and I had to go back to work, and I was working from 1:30 in the afternoon to 10:30 at night so it busted my day up badly, and I was tired so I haven't been able to play as much lately but I've gone back to day shift, so I have more time to play. Hopefully I'll get the classical part back up to speed, and start learnin the other stuff
