I'm thinking I wanna learn some of Race with the devil on Spanish Highway Does anyone have a link to an article that might explain this song in broken down bits and peices? Or does anyone have any tips on it? THanks everyone

Hey,
Well, I would use a Les-Paul type guitar using a small amount of distortion and a little reverb. And practice your alternate picking like crazy! I find that a good slow-down device or program is great for learning high-speed licks and phrasing.ie..Windows Media Player or a Tascam GT-1 guitar trainer (have one, well worth the money).

The powertab archive has several songs tabbed out, but not the one you mention. Maybe it'll help anyways... :)

Al Di Meola is one of the fastest pickers on the planet. His chops are legendary... Nuno, PG, and many others idolize that dude!

The thing that blows my mind about him is that he articulates every note so precisely, even in the fastest runs. It sounds like the pick is hitting flat on the string, as opposed to somewhere around a 45 degree angle which seems more common among shred guys. It gives him a much more distinctive attack. His insane muting helps a lot too.

definatly, and somthing else I noticed, I'm a big Zakk Wylde fan, I realized how much Zakk emulates Al, but in a different way, but the similarities are still definatly there.

I actually met Zakk at a clinic years back, and he said that before he got into pentatonics, he sounded quite a lot like Dimeola. It would be interesting to hear him play like that - he's rarely that scalar.
